The Wheelbarrow sex position:
- The woman starts on all fours. The man, standing behind, picks her legs up and holds them, to leave the woman standing just on her hands. He then raises his partner to penetrate - or penetration can be achieved while he still has his hands free.
- In another variation of the Wheelbarrow position, the woman should rest her arms on a chair while the man lifts her legs and supports her while she wraps her legs around him. He should then proceed. This is very similar to the Upside-Down, yet involves the use of a chair.
Penetration is deep and the wheelbarrow position is great to make a smaller man seem bigger. It’s also great for hitting the G-spot, and there’s the thrill of the rush of blood to the head. Some women love this. Beware though: if you start to feel dizzy, you need to stop - fainting during sex not being particularly sexy. Oh, and you need strong arms!

If you’re feeling more adventurous, try the backwards wheelbarrow. In this position, the woman climbs onto the man, wraps her legs around him, and grips onto him with her thighs. Slowly, she lowers herself backwards until her hands touch the floor, the man holding her waist.
A more exciting way of achieving this position is for woman to do a handstand against her partner, then slide her legs down either side of him, while he holds her waist. Once at the right level, she wraps her legs together behind him and he penetrates her.
Once again, penetration is deep, there’s that head rush, and this position is good for G-spot stimulation. The man should also find it relatively easy to stimulate his partner's clitoris.
Advantages of the Wheelbarrow Positon
- For the penetrating partner, this position offers an unobstructed view of the partner's body from the rear.
- In a rear-entry sex position, the woman can feel exceptionally vulnerable. Some women find this highly stimulating – the thought of being penetrated and taken in an ‘animal-like’ way greatly turns them on. However, other women find it a turn-off because they consider it an ‘unromantic’ position.
- For some women this position provides the best stimulation of the G Spot.
- For the male, the penetrating position allows for different sensations during sex as compared with other positions. For example, in this position, the testicles may brush against the receiver's thighs.
Disadvantages of the Wheelbarrow Position
- For this position both partners must have great upper strength and flexibility. The Wheelbarrow position requires skill and time to align both partners bodies balanced together. It can become a very strenuous position with energy lost ....definitely a move for the more adventurous lover!
- One drawback of this position for some is the difficulty of maintaining direct eye contact, or kissing.
- Some women may experience pain due to over-penetration
- This position is often great to play with sexual dominance: some consider the position humiliating or degrading because of its perceived link to animal copulation, or more generally, because of its perceived submissive or receptive nature.
