How to Do

In the Reverse Cowgirl sex position:

the penetrating partner lies on their back and the receiving partner sits on top.
The receiving partner straddles the penetrating partner's legs, which are held together, while facing the penetrating partner's feet.
Their groins are aligned for penetration.

The reverse cowgirl is a human sex position which is one of a number of what are sometimes called female-superior or woman on top sexual positions, although this terminology may be considered heteronormative, as not all two-person sexual interactions involve a man and a woman.

Variations

The receiving partner can either be in a kneeling or squatting position. They can have their torso upright, or they can have it aligned with the penetrating partner's body.
This position can be used for vaginal or anal sex, with penetration achieved by a penis or a strap-on dildo.

Use in pornography

This position is widely depicted in male-female pornography marketed towards men, as it provides the photographer with a full front view of the woman, whilst hiding the man (except for his genitals) from view, behind her body.

For the woman who likes to take the initiative and the man who enjoys watching his partner as they make love, woman-on-top sex positions cannot be beaten. And with deep penetration as an added bonus, they can increase the sexual pleasure for both partners in any loving relationship by adding new sensations to your lovemaking.

Watching and listening

As always when making love, take care to watch or listen to your lover's reactions. This way you will quickly find out what pleases each of you and how you can best work to increase each other's pleasure, arousal and satisfaction. A man's erection and ejaculation reflexes are slowed down when he is on his back and there is time to use the special 'squeeze technique' of preventing ejaculation. If he feels he is coming too soon, he can signal to the woman who can take his penis out and squeeze the top of the glands firmly between her fingers until he begins to lose his erection. She can then re-arouse him and they can continue making love.

Pregnancy

Woman-on-top sex positions are ideal during pregnancy. There is no pressure on the woman's stomach and it is easy for her to make sure that the depth and the speed of penetration are comfortable. The man can see and touch her new, full shape, and this kind of gentle, tender lovemaking can be highly arousing for both partners. In this way, intercourse can be possible almost entirely throughout the pregnancy.

Woman-on-top sex positions are also useful if the man is recovering from a serious illness or surgery, or the woman has recently given birth, because the woman can relax, knowing that her partner will not overdo things.

It is also important to remember that everyone is built differently. Some women's genitals are set very much more forward than others’. This brings the penis into contact with the clitoris in a different way and means that deep penetration for one couple will be shallow for another. As with all sex positions, experimentation is the key, and with a little imagination you will soon find out what suits you both.

Advantages of the Reverse Cowgirl position

Penetration is quite deep, and the woman can control the depth and intensity of penetration.
If you and your partner have struggled with slipping out in the cowgirl position, then the “reversed cowgirl ” should reduce this irritating occurrence at the possible expense of clitoral stimulation.
Often the man can delay his orgasm longer in this position.
The position is far less tiring for the man as he does not have to support his weight while also being physically active.
The woman may take a relatively static position, so that she does not tire (by supporting her upper body with her extended arms with her torso almost horizontal), while the man, not having to support his weight can be quite active without fatigue.
This variation eases the strain of motion upon the woman's knees, which may be an advantage for some women.
The woman can control the depth, intensity, and angle of penetration, and enjoy the dominant feeling of being in control.
The man can enjoy receiving pleasure while relaxing.
The woman can easily stimulate her clitoris with her hand (if in the upright version).
If sitting upright, the woman can stimulate the man's testicles.
The man can caress the woman's buttocks and stimulate the anus.
Unlike in the missionary position, in this position the woman has the active role while the man has the passive role.

Disadvantages of the Reverse Cowgirl position

For people who like a lot of thrusting penetration, this position can be unsatisfying.
As well, for the time that the woman is actually sitting up, there is less body to body contact than other positions (it’s not very cuddly, if that’s what you are looking for).
One partner is doing most of the work in this position, so you might not consider it completely equitable.
It does allow for the person on the bottom to have a particularly good view of their partner’s bum, and if you like to see yourself having sex, and have an appropriately placed mirror, the woman on top can see more than if she were lying down.
